Job Description:


The Director of Coaching and Cohorts will work with the Executive Minister of Make and Deepen Disciples to create and coordinate coaching and cohorts for Make and Deepen Disciples with an emphasis on cohorts related to evangelism, discipleship, and generational ministries. Additionally, the Director will work across all mission areas to further collaboration, standardization, and communication for coaching and learning cohorts. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead and promote COACH Model® trainings for the Evangelical Covenant Church.
• Develop, launch, and facilitate a portfolio of coaching and cohort experiences responsive to the strategic initiatives of Make and Deepen Disciples, especially:
o Evangelism cohorts and coaching to equip senior pastors and church leaders in evangelism leadership.
o Discipleship cohorts and coaching to equip churches and leaders in developing intentional discipleship pathways and strengthening spiritual formation practices.
o Generations cohorts and coaching to equip churches to make and deepen disciples among all ages and stages.
• Oversee coaching initiatives for Start and Strengthen Churches:
o Coaching coordination for Church Planting.
o Coaching coordination for Church Vitality.
• Oversee coaching initiatives for Develop Leaders:
o Collaboration with Director of Vocational and Spiritual Development and Director of Vocational Innovation on coaching design, assignments, and integration with Develop Leaders Initiatives.
o Communication with logistical support personnel about reporting, compensation, and resourcing coaches as necessary.
• Collaborate with all mission areas as needed to coordinate, standardize, and communicate ministry initiatives which involve coaching and learning cohorts.
• Host ministry events, experiences, and network opportunities.
• Develop, curate, and provide relevant content and resources.
External collaboration with conferences and local churches is critical to ensure successful ministry outcomes.

Essential Functions
• Create and coordinate coaching relationships and learning cohorts for Make and Deepen
Disciples and other mission areas.
• Cultivate partnerships between denomination and conference teams.
• Collaborate on the planning and execution of in-person and virtual Covenant events.
• Advocate best practices that advance the multiethnic mosaic and demonstrate intercultural agility.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Minister of Make and Deepen Disciples.

Candidates will possess demonstrated abilities in:
• Coaching and mentoring pastors and leaders;
• Evangelism and discipleship leadership and equipping;
• Multiplying leaders through a “training the trainers” strategy;
• Teaching and equipping others, both in-person and virtually;
• Innovative content creation and curation for multiple demographics;
• Coordinating teams and mobilizing decentralized ministry;
• Proven mastery of numerous software, hardware, and online tools; and
• Budget management.

Experience and Skills:

Education and Experience
Required: Master’s degree in Divinity, Discipleship, Evangelism, Christian Formation, Theology, or other relevant area. A minimum engagement of five (5) years in the Evangelical Covenant Church and a minimum of 5 years of functioning in ministry positions to include experience in conference level activities. Ordained or willing to seek ordination in the ECC. Qualified or willing to seek immediate qualification in the COACH Model® for Christian leaders.
Preferred: Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, exercised in curricula development and social media interactions.

Environment Conditions
Able to work well in remote locales and professional office settings. Domestic and some international travel with occasional evening/weekend engagements. Must be versatile and able to work for prolong segments sitting, walking, virtually or standing. Must engage frequently with office tools and equipment, such as: computer, copier, phone, web-conferencing equipment, cell communication, printers, etc. Must be able to occasionally lift or move items, less than 35lbs.
