Job Description:

Summary
The Financial Analyst will support the pension and benefits services through detailed analysis, reconciling and reporting of Bethany Benefit Service and Covenant Pension Fund financial data. This position will ensure accuracy in all aspects of benefit payments and receipts, claims, investment trends and census data.


Essential Functions
* Engage in electronic, phone and in-person communication in a professional, congenial, and courteous manner with constituency. Provide high-level of customer service to constituents.
* Perform broad range of financial activities, including excel-based financial analysis, modeling and forecasting.
* Calculate benefits for pension recipients and surviving spouses based on cumulative compensation and elections.
* Gather data and produce financial and census reporting to be used by actuaries, board, vendors, and leadership to use in decision-making and generating reports (i.e. 1099 forms, claim trends, etc.).
* Verify accuracy of billing and ACH files and coordinate processing.
* Assure and maintain accuracy of data in corresponding databases.
* Process and pay vendor claim and fee invoices, send reimbursement payments, ensure accuracy of pension payments.
* Effectively and efficiently conduct research to advance benefits efforts.
* Other duties as assigned, by the Benefit Administrator, Director of Pension and/or Chief Financial Officer.

Experience and Skills:

Education and Experience
Required: A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, related field or comparable experience and education. Minimum five (5) years in a support role, to include experience in an office environment with financial analysis emphasis. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred: Experience and knowledge in employment benefits, especially self-funded health insurance plans and defined benefit pension plans. Personal engagement with the ECC (preferably minimum of 1-3 years). Held HIPPA Certification and familiarity with HIPPA guidelines.

* Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations.
* Ability to operate with discretion and confidentiality at all times.
* Ability to maintain flexibility in approach and adjust actions when appropriate.
* Engage in routine office tasks: answering telephone, processing correspondence, submitting voucher reimbursements, managing database systems, mailing, copying, filing, scanning, etc.
Environment Conditions

Able to work well in professional office setting, but occasionally works in remote locales. Occasional evening/weekend work engagements and hours. Must be versatile and able to work for prolong segments sitting, walking, or standing. Must engage frequently with office tools and equipment, such as: computer, copier, phone, web-conferencing equipment, digital communication, printers, etc. Must be able to occasionally lift or move items, less than 35lbs.
